Maryland Facade Improvement Program
The Maryland Facade Improvement Program provides funding to improve the exteriors of businesses located in Maryland Sustainable Communities.
Eligible Applicants
The following entities may apply for Maryland Facade Improvement Program funding for projects located in Sustainable Communities:
- Local governments
- Groups of local governments sharing a common purpose or goal
- Community development organizations (for example: community development corporations, main street organizations, downtown partnerships)
Eligible Projects
Funds will be used for capital costs related to the improvement of exterior facades for business buildings and facilities.
The applicant will apply to capitalize a grants fund and develop an application process for businesses to improve their building facades.
Project should capitalize on the strengths of a community while addressing its challenges to revitalization and should help to achieve a local government’s Sustainable Communities Action Plan.
Eligible Project Locations
Maryland Facade Improvement Program funding can only be used in areas known as Sustainable Communities. Sustainable Communities are geographic areas targeted for revitalization by local governments. To determine geographic eligibility, use the Neighborhood Revitalization Mapper.
