Public information
The Office of Public Affairs is the source of information about the department for Maryland residents, media outlets and the public. The office includes communications and marketing.

Department of Housing and Community Development Policy Regarding Proactive Disclosure of Public Records
Pursuant to § 4-201(c) of the Maryland Public Information Act, the Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) sets forth the following policy of proactive disclosure of public records for immediate inspection.
Subject to the best interests of DHCD, and to the extent that resources and current DHCD procedures allow, DHCD will post the following categories of public records on its website to facilitate public access to them:
- General DHCD Documents and Information, including but not limited to
- DHCD press releases and annual reports,
- Maryland Interagency Council on Homelessness’ Annual Reports, and other reports and publications the department is required to complete.
- DHCD program-specific documents and information, including but not limited to program application guidelines and forms, reports, compliance information, manuals and plans.
Media inquiries
The Office of Public Affairs is the public’s direct line for news about the department's objectives, achievements, programs and people. We are responsible for customer service and media inquiries, and produce the department’s virtual newsroom, social media sites, annual report and other publications.
